What happens during a boiler service?

Before we go into what happens during a service, you need to make sure the engineer is qualified to do the job. If your boiler is gas, the engineer must be registered with the Gas Safe Register, whilst an oil boiler should be maintained by an OFTEC engineer. Before they begin working on your boiler, ask to see their registration ID card.

During our engineer's visit, our engineer may perform the following procedures:

 Visual Inspection

Your engineer will do a visual inspection to ensure that the boiler continues to meet current regulations and requirements, as well as look for any corrosion or leaks. They will also inspect the flame in your boiler visually.

 Removal of your boiler casing

The boiler casing will be removed, and the components will be checked to ensure that everything is working properly before cleaning the inside of the boiler. The heat exchanger, burner, main injector, and spark probe will all be checked.

 Flue check

The engineer will ensure that the flue terminals are clear of obstructions and that the flue is securely installed.

 Gas Pressure

Check the gas pressure in your boiler to make sure it's working properly.

 Firing up the Boiler

This is so the engineer can check for any operating faults with the boiler once it has been started.

How long does it take to service a boiler?

Our boiler services should take at least 30 minutes, however, this depends on the brand and model. Following that, the engineer will provide you with a service report detailing what they've done. Please do not hesitate to ask any concerns you may have about the boiler servicing; we will be pleased to answer them and provide you with suitable advice.
